Langtang

The Langtang region is very famous for Mountain Views, and is a popular trekking destination. It is about 10 hours and 156 kilometer from Kathmandu. The Langtang region includes the Chinese / Tibet border, and is one of the most remote areas in Nepal. Volunteers here will have very limited access to telephone, mail and internet access.
Placement in Langtang
Syabrubesi - It is about 156 kilometer far from north of Kathmandu. It's about 11 hour's bus journey from Kathmandu. Syabrubeshi is a little town with some western facilities. It is also starting and ending point of Langtang Trek. There is an access of internet and telephone calls. You can easily get bottled water. This place is little bit expensive then other placement.
Gatlang - It's about 5 hours walk from Syabrubesi. This is Tamang heritage village. They have telephones but there is not internet.
Accommodations - simple room with beds.
Meals - Breakfast occurs at 6:30 am and consists of a cup of tea and biscuits. Lunch is served at 9:00 to 9:30 am and is usually dal/bhat (rice, lentils, and vegetables). Dinner is at 6:30 to 7:00pm and is once more Dal/Bhat. The food is very simple but also extremely tasty and filling.
Suggestions - We advise you to bring Sleeping bag and mosquito net with you or you can always by here which is 2-3 times cheaper than back home. Warm clothes during October through January.
Major sightseeing in Langtang - Chilime Hydro Electritity Project, Hot spring, Gosaikunda lake, Tamang heritage villages (Goljung and Gatlang) Kynjin Gompa.
