Before I came to Nepal I had never been abroad on my own before I was extremely nervous and scared at the prospect of spending 17 days alone in foreign country. However I have never not once, since being here such warmth and amazing company and the friendships. I have made with my fellow volunteers have been invaluable. From Taking the Patan micro bus to spotting the one horn rhino in Chitwan together. Bart, Morgan,Ted , Bicky and Bishal Thank you for being the best company I could have ever wished for.
My time spent at my projects in Godawari ( even if I have stayed 2 days) and then were with Bicky in the office both very memorable. One day I arrived in the office he find there was a power cut and rather unfortunately no work could be done. Instead Bicky and I spend the afternoon chatting and putting the world of rights thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon as I did all of my afternoons spent in the office.
Bicky is one of the kindest men I ever met and his work at VCD is truly admirable.
I think Bicky answering care for all that pass through the doors of the lighthouse.can be summed up by the fact that during our bumpy but journey to Chitwan Bicky repeatedly rang the bus conductor to check we were safe and happy . The s,mall details and extra care that Bicky puts in to each volunteer stay is obvious and is demonstrated by the fact I have not met or spoken to, a single VCD volunteer that has not had a smooth and problem free stay. I wish Bicky , his wife and baby boy all the happiness in the world for the future – they deserve it.
My stay at the light house. Would not have been the same without Prakash and Bishal, what a duo, I am very grateful to Prakash for his safe driving skills and friendly smiley face. As well as his incredible patience when drive through the Kathmandu traffic.
Bishal has always been fun to talk to and has provided me with a wealth of knowledge about Nepal, culture and the history of Kathmandu.
I have had so many amazing moments in Nepal and feel I truly have been given an excellent insight into Nepali life during my short 17 days stay . its impossible to pick a favourite moment but I know for sure that my stay wouldn’t have been the same without everyone that comprises to my VCD family.
I am determined to return to Nepal and in the lighthouse soon as I leave safe in the knowledge that I will always have a home here.
Thank you for everything VCD Nepal.
I will never forget Nepal!
